First State Insurance is an independent insurance agency located in Cando, North Dakota. The agency was formed in the 1960s when it was affiliated with First Bank System. The agency was purchased from First Bank System in 1987 by a group of local investors. First State Insurance Agency is a multi-line agency that offers auto, home, business, farm, crop insurance, life, health and long-term care insurance. We represent a number of different insurance companies so we can shop for the best coverages for your particular needs.

First State Insurance Agency of Cando purchased Lord Insurance Agency/Lord Farm Management in 1998. Farmers Insurance Agency was acquired in 2013. Companies represented are: Heartland, Farmers Mutual Hail, Center Mutual, North Star Mutual, Family Mutual Insurance, Continental Western Group, United Fire Group, Progressive, Grinnell and North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund.
